ZD Chardonnay 750ml
Varietal: Chardonnay
Region: Napa Valley, California
Country: USA
Product Description: Napa, CA - Aromas of fresh tropical fruit and a hint of vanilla and coconut. No malolactic fermentation results in a preservation of crisp acidity that gives the wine a clean finish in addition to a lingering aftertaste.
This new release is yet another great example of ZD’s signature style of producing intense, fruit forward, and well balanced Chardonnays. The grapes for this wine are from three of California’s premiere growing regions: Santa Maria valley located in Santa Barbara, Arroyo Seco in Monterey County, and the cool, fog-shrouded Napa and Sonoma Carneros. This complex blend of cool coastal regions showcased the 2017 vintage beautifully.
All of the grapes were harvested at optimal maturities and 100% barrel fermented in our cellar, which is kept at a chilly 48°F during fermentation. This long, cool fermentation helps preserve the vibrant tropical and bright citrus aromas, while also inhibiting malolactic fermentation - thus maintaining the ideal balance between the ripe fruit and bright, natural acidity. The wine is then aged for 10 months in American Oak barrels.
Aromas of pineapple, lime zest, and pear mingle with hints of vanilla and orange blossoms. The palate is rich and full bodied with the exceptional balance between fruit, toasty oak, and lively acidity. The finish is amazingly long and lasting. Enjoy!
